Edo Frenkel began his musical studies at the age of 15. He has played concerts in France, Germany, Austria, Canada, and in various cities throughout the United States, both as soloist and ensemble member, featuring repertoire ranging from the standard literature to music of Reich, Lachenmann, Boulez, and free improvisation, including a featured performance on New York public television and a solo recital produced by Steinway of Chicago. Recent and upcoming appearances include the conducing masterclasses in Paris, France with Peter Eötvös and the Lucerne Academy Festival Orchestra.

As a composer his music has been performed by members of the JACK quartet, ensemble mise-en, and Ossia: New Music, as well as several soloists of note, in addition to a commissioned work by L’esemble Paramirabo scheduled to be performed in 2015. In 2010 Edo was commissioned by the Outer Loop Theatre to compose the musical Castles. Most recently his music has been heard in Tokyo, Japan and The ME_MMIX music festival in Palma Mallorca, Spain. Upcoming performances include Hermes: supplement, hymen, measured in grams for amplified solo voice at the International Festival for New Music, in Darmstadt, Germany, and Homonculus, for mixed octet, a newly commissioned work for the Cortona Sessions in Cortona, Italy. His piece So, for solo violin, is featured on Takao Hyakutome’s LP Monolith. It is available for purchase through the label Champ d’Action.

Edo is currently a student at the Eastman School of Music pursuing an MM in conducting. He holds an MM in piano performance from Texas Christian University, where he was an accompanying fellow, and a BM in Composition from the Eastman School of Music.
